Happy Teachers Day

A teacher is a person who encourages pupils to amass knowledge, competence or virtue. Informally the stance of the teacher may be contended by anyone. In some countries, teaching young people of school age may be carried out in an informal setting, such as within the family, rather than in a formal setting such as a school or college. Some other professions may implicate a considerable percentage of teaching. In most countries, formal teaching of students is usually carried out by compensated proficient teachers. This article focuses on those who are employed, as their main role, to teach others in a formal schooling context, such as at a school or other place of initial conventional pedagogy or training.

Teachers' Day is a special day for the appreciation of teachers and may encompass celebrations to honour them for their special subsidies in a particular field area, or the community in general. The idea of commemorating Teachers' Day seized embryo in many countries during the 19th century; in most circumstances, they celebrate a local educator or an important climacteric in pedagogy. This is the primary reason why countries dedicate this day on numerous dates, unlike many other International Days. For example, Argentina has commemorated Domingo Faustino Sarmiento's death on 11 September since 1915, while in India Guru Purnima is traditionally perceived as a day to venerate teachers, the birthday of the second president Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan is also proclaimed as Teacher's Day since 1962. Many countries celebrate World Teachers' Day, established by UNESCO in 1994, on 5 October as their Teachers' Day.

Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was an Indian philosopher, theoretical, and statesman who served as the first Vice President of India (1952–1962) and the second President of India (1962–1967). One of India's most eminent twentieth-century intellectuals of proximate religion and philosophy, after attaining his education at Madras Christian College in 1911, he became Assistant Professor and tardily Professor of Philosophy at Madras Presidency College then subsequently Professor of Philosophy at the University of Mysore (1918-1921); the King George V Chair of Mental and Moral Science at the University of Calcutta (1921–1932) and Spalding Professor of Eastern Religion and Ethics at University of Oxford (1936–1952) by which he became the first Indian to hold a professorial chair at the University of Oxford. He was Upton Lecturer at Manchester College, Oxford in 1926, 1929, and 1930. In 1930 he was appointed Haskell lecturer in Comparative Religion at the University of Chicago. His doctrine was grounded in Advaita Vedanta, reinterpreting this tradition for a contemporary understanding. He insured Hinduism against what he called "uninformed Western criticism", allotting to the formation of contemporary Hindu identity. He has been persuasive in shaping the understanding of Hinduism, in both India and the west, and earned a reputation as a bridge-builder between India and the West. Sarvepalli was vested several high awards during his life, including a knighthood in 1931, the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award in India, in 1954, and honorary membership of the British Royal Order of Merit in 1963. He was also one of the founders of Helpage India, a non-profit organisation for elderly underprivileged in India. Sarvepalli reckoned that "teachers should be the truest minds in the country". Since 1962, his birthday has been commemorated in India as Teachers' Day on 5 September every year. He is the only President of India who could not attend the Delhi Republic Day parade due to his ill health. He served as the professor of philosophy at Mysore (1918-21) and Calcutta (1937-41) universities.

Here's views of few teacher's about their teaching experience

Teachers are a parcel component of the education system. Teachersdo not only make the planning of education but also execute, monitor and evaluate the achievement. Teachers are considerate action builders. On 5th September 1988, when I was in class Xth, we had role-play competition as oart of the teachers' day celebration. In the competition I got prize for best teacher. This award which i got really motivated me to become a teacher. But after my graduation in 1992, I started working as a laboratory technician at a college. My thirst for teaching was fulfilling by conducting practicals for college students, even though it was not coming in my job profile. My love for teaching led me to quit my job and join a self finance college as a lecturer. There was no looking back . To my luck, I joined back in another aiding college but this time as a teacher and head of instituition. Even though I started working in 1992, I joined the teaching proffession in 2008. It ws a wonderful experience for me to be a teacher. The love I got from my students was wonderful. As a teacher, I not only taught students but also learnt a lot from my students. I strongly believe that a good teacher helps us to be a good human being in society and a good citizen of the country. The good relationship between teachers and students helps in the character formation of students which is based on trust and respect. Teachers truly are the backbone of society.

Teaching is not a profession it is a vocation. The most important prerequisite to being a good teacher is to love children. You must love being around kids. Now personally, though babies are cute and adorable I prefer teaching the 12-16-year-olds. Being a teacher, you never ever grow old. At times you're singing and dancing with them, at other times you're a counsellor trying really hard to give good age-related advice. For me, I could never think of any other profession. The minute you step into the school you forget about everything else and the time flies by and before you realise it, it's time to go home. Now don't get me wrong there are days when you're just swamped with work and feel like giving up but those days are few and far between. Teaching is never boring. Yes, the syllabus may remain the same but the inquisitive minds keep on changing. Every year you have a myriad set of little people who look up to you for that boost in confidence. The classroom is a kaleidoscope of different types -you have the quiet silent ones, the bright academically inclined ones, the quintessential backbencher and the mischievous ones. The school year is filled with excitement Annual Day, Sports Day, Children's Day the list is endless. The preparation is nerve-wracking and fun at the same time. Well, I think I have given you a fairly good idea of teaching and I will end by reiterating once again that I could never, ever think of any other profession more exciting and challenging as teaching.

Inspite of writing any theoretical way I would simply say that teaching is such an profession which has always helped me to get connected to lil hearts ,know their querries, listen to their sorrows n participate in their happiness...I don't think any other profession would cater to this all ...hence, I prefer teaching as my profession which would help me to explore my new n creative skills always.

I am a teacher and I love my profession. The bonding between a teacher and a student is magical and sacred. With my teaching experience, there's one thing that I realised is that every child is different. I love teaching them to their perspective, as they enjoy studying and interacting and our bonds become stronger. With their views, I learn many new things from them and it helps me improve my teaching skills. Its real happiness when I reach the school gate, greetings from my students echo in my ear as well as in my heart. But nowadays because of the COVID-19 pandemic, I am missing all those days. I still try my best to teach them through online classes.

Teaching is a noble profession I take great Pride that I train the future citizens of our country. As a teacher, I enrich the lives of my students with knowledge and virtues. This is a profession which helps me to keep myself updated. It has made me a diligent individual and encouraged me to influence the lives of students with positivity. Teaching is an interesting art. There are so many things to learn from it. Students are a great source of inspiration for all educators. They bring in new information, new perspectives, and new points of view. If instructors think they know it all, teaching proves them wrong.
Teaching life is a beautiful journey if we know how to live it. While doing the same thing continuously might be joyful for some, others might find it monotonously boring.
In my years of teaching, I’ve dealt with issues that were hard to foresee from my formal training. Even though I’m completing a teaching preparation program geared towards teaching science in schools, my experience in the classroom has been full of new experiences and challenges that constantly makes me to figure out what works best for my students, many of whom are at different academic levels and struggle with basic reading and writing skills. During this time of pandemic ,Teachers are also next level COVID warriors fighting for the nation & shaping the future of tomorrow.

Right from my childhood days I always admired my teachers and would imitate them back at home. Teaching for me has been a passion right from then. After I finished my masters in chemistry I had the option either to join the industrial field and work with instruments or do my BEd and work with students. I felt working with students would be much more interesting as it brings to you new challenges every day. Now it's not only me teaching my students but I learn many things from them as well.

I feel weak, I feel low, I feel drained, I don't feel like a teacher. Its been five long months since I have felt high and happy on the noisy chatter and giggles of my 450 children that I teach in the nine classes that I go to. Can't believe how a microscopic virus has changed the entire teaching scenario. I, along with my teacher fraternity had to move out from our comfort zone of chalk talk to distant virtual on and offline teaching. As we drift towards the most precious day for all Indian teachers, I take this opportunity to wish all my colleagues across Goa and India. I congratulate all my fellow colleagues for choosing a vocation, not a career. Love and blessings so that we continue to teach by touching the lives of our students... Our children. Happy Teacher's Day to me, you and us.
