International Day for the Girl
International Day of the Girl Child is an international observance day declared by the United Nations. It is also called the Day of Girls and the International Day of the Girl. October 11, 2012, was the first Day of the Girl Child. The observation supports more opportunity for girls and increases awareness of gender inequality faced by girls worldwide based upon their gender. This inequality includes areas such as access to education, nutrition, legal rights, medical care, and protection from discrimination, violence against women and forced child marriage. The celebration of the day also reflects the successful emergence of girls and young women as a distinct cohort in development policy, programming, campaigning and research.
International Day of the Girl increases awareness of issues faced by girls around the world. Many global development plans do not include or consider girls, and their issues as they are "invisible." More than 62 million girls around the world had no access to education, according to USAID. Worldwide and collectively, girls ages 5 to 14 spend more than 160 million hours more on household chores than boys of the same age do. Globally, one in four girls are married before the age of 18. On October 11, 2016, Emma Watson, a United Nations Women's Goodwill Ambassador, urged countries and families worldwide to end forced child marriage. Many girls around the world are vulnerable to acts of sexual violence and the perpetrators very often go unpunished. The Day of Girls helps raise awareness not only of the issues that girls face, but also of what is likely to happen when those problems are solved. For example, educating girls helps reduce the rate of child marriage, diseases and helps strengthen the economy by helping females to have an access to higher paying jobs.
Adolescent girls have the right to a safe, educated, and healthy life, not only during these critical formative years, but also as they mature into women. If effectively supported during the adolescent years, girls have the potential to change the world – both as the empowered girls of today and as tomorrow’s workers, entrepreneurs, mentors, household heads, political leaders and mothers. An investment in realising the power of adolescent girls upholds their rights today and promises a more equitable and prosperous future, one in which half of humanity is an equal partner in solving the problems of climate change, political conflict, economic growth, disease prevention, and global sustainability.
Here's what few expression of love and gratitude by mothers who have girls in their life....
Girls are the future life givers of our society. They play differnt roles in their lives. they become a daughter, sister, wife, daughter-in-law, mother, grandmother. they pour unconditional love in all of the above roles. when a girl is born, we sat an angel has come down to earth. families too are happy hearing the news of a girl child being born. the pain the mother goes through in her labour vanishes the moment she sees the baby.
As a mother of two beautiful girls, I feel very blessed, proud and happy as they are going to be the light of the world. I see them growing up very beautifully. They are my inspiration and strength. Their smiling faces encourage me to be a better mother through each passing day. Being a mother is not an easy job it is equally challenging, but my kids are my great support. being a mother of two kids, I still feel I am new at it, as I learn many things and its new experience everday.

Good daughters are not born, they are raised. But a great daugter is sent directly from god. My daughters are the greatest daughters ever. They came into my life and now it is better than ever.
I am deeply thankful and blessed for the special and unique daughters in my life who uplift me, comfort me and bring joy to my soul as they share their own moments. They are everthing that any parents could wish for. I never dreamt of having any daughters than them. They made my life complete.
Daughters share a bond that comes with fond memories and unconditional love. Daughters serve as a constant inspiration. No matter how old they get, they'll always be my little angels.
As they are growing older. I want them to know that I will always love them. They'll always be my pride and the most beautiful part of my life. Just watching them makes my day, and realising how beautiful life is.

A good talk, laugh and hug with her after hactic work makes me forget all my tiredness ,worry and stress. Daughters complete us in all sense and as parents they are not only our child but grow to be our best friends. I never realised it till I had one. I am a very proud mother of a four year old daughter and I love her more than anything else in this world.Earlier, I had only heard that daughters grow to be our best friends and I now believe it with all my heart. We humans are surrounded by so many relationships – parents, grandparents, cousins, friends, uncles and aunts. And each of them has a special place and meaning in our heart and life. But one of the most loving and special relationship that we can have is with a daughter. Even at this age she cares for me so much and treats me like a friend, telling me all her little secrets.Having a daughter, I feel like a proud and happy mommy.

To be a mother of a girl child is a privilege. Girls are refined on their own .They do things in a matured way .You need not tell them 100 times any thing. They are set to rock the world with their knowledge their have given to them .They understand the home environment better than boys. It is a great honour to be a parent of a girl child .I am happy to have a girl. Now a days girls rule the world .I am a proud mother of my daughter Eden .I am 100 %sure that all those who have girls feel the same as me .
Evrida Jacques and daughter Eden Jacques
In modern times we observe that the parents of daughters are better cared n happier than the parents of sons. Usually it happens when the sons marry. Some sons at times put their older parents in aged homes. Its very disheartening to see such parents. Sometimes the sons feel ashamed of their parents. I am a proud mother of two daughters and feel today girls are an asset not only in families but to the nation as you see them in every field.

The famous poet of India Sahir Ludhianviji has written a lot, "What will be the life of God apart from Mother Teri Surat".Mother is considered God, and it is true that her godliness is realized only by becoming a mother. It is said in our society, the son is the lamp of the house, he gives us salvation, but how do people forget that the daughter is a box of money. I mean to say that if the son meets luck, the daughter meets luck. There is never a lack of mothering, trust, love in the house of those who have a daughter.
Yes I am proud of myself that I am the mother of two daughters. My daughters are the stream of my life, relaxed, the lights that illuminate my family.
My two fairies were growing up with their hair. How many people say to us, you have two daughters? Don't have a son? We both never paid attention to him. Neither did we ever feel the need. Both our daughters are our comfort, our life's goal. It is our duty to give them good education and impart good values and aim at our lives.
Both my daughters are attentive to the lovers. On the way, if a cow, bull, dog, cat is found in a wounded state or suffering from any disease, then immediately they help them and save their life.
We are very proud of our daughters. We feel that for a girl the most that matters is her self-esteem and confidence. We have full faith in our daughters, because thorns can never become flowers and flowers can never become thorns.
Well written and expressed their feeling of having a girl child. How I admire Dwinnie s thoughts .
