2021 Board Exams Revocation

The administration has put the country on lockdown since the covid-19 eruption. Places where large people are expected to congregate have been closed. Schools are one example of such a location. Schools have begun to offer courses online, and everything we do now is virtual, from lectures to assignments. But what about schools conducting board exams?

The most crucial thing a student goes through is board examinations. However, given the outbreak of the coronavirus, the government has chosen to promote grade 10 students without requiring them to take tests.Parents, teachers, and school administrators stated the chief minister's decision to cancel the Class 2021 state board examinations was not the greatest academic decision, but it was the state's only alternative to safeguard kids' lives in the face of the ongoing epidemic.

Here are some thoughts from pupils who were promoted from 10th grade without taking board examinations:

Class 10th board exams, I always heard from the very beginning that it possesses great importance in one's life. Being an above-average student I always wanted to portray Excellency through my 10th board results and this pandemic Hit hard on my face. As months passed, situation kept getting worse and worse day by day when whenhat it was not appropriate for the board to hold the exams. But the board still kept delaying the decision about the board exams. Having entered the 11th month of preparing for the exams and studying the same syllabus, I was anxious waiting for the government to decide about risking my life or either saving it. Finally,, the board exams of class 10 were cancelled I was not happy neither sad. I was confused about how to react. I should be happy because I don't have to go out in this havoc of pandemic and write my board exams or be sad as all the hard work I did throughout the year had no use. After some time I told myself that the knowledge I have gathered won't be wasted. Now I'm happy as all the mental pressure of writing the board exams has finally disappeared.

Yeah, I support the government's decision.

Class X is a stressful year for students as they require to study on an intense level for their first board exams. These exams provide the grades which are essential to obtain a seat in a good college. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the exams were cancelled and the number of cases had drastically increased which made the conduction of the exams impossible. On hearing the news of the exams being cancelled, one should consider it as devastating due to the preparation and time taken however, with the lockdowns, curfews, etc. students are forced to stay at home without school or tuitions. Therefore, this news is satisfying since at home, there are many distractions, they include mobile phones, televisions, electronic devices etc. which caused a delay to studying this could have caused me a provision of having blank knowledge during these examinations. Throughout the year, I had been studying rarely since I had taken the year lightly thinking there would be a postponement of these tests. I spent most of my time gaming instead of attending revision classes and tuitions. This caused me to be late in completing the portion on time. The news would have infuriated and bewildered me if I had been studying on a constant level but it had sparked joy and I was delighted. In conclusion, with the ongoing situation of the pandemic, the government provided a perceptive move to cancel the class 10 examinations in my opinion. Promotion to the next year without exams will cause any inconvenience to the students nevertheless, the safety of the students needs to be ensured.

My point of view is that cancellation of the board exam of 10th std is not a good move. Because some students have not scored proper assessment marks and they were preparing properly for the final board. First, when I came to know that my exams are cancelled I was very happy but then I was worried about how my grades will be calculated. They should have at least conducted an online exam.

In March, I was prepared very well for the board exams. I was very excited to answer my boards but unfortunately, because of the covid pandemic Government of Goa postponed boards to May. I thought that I will get some extra time to prepare and will achieve a good score. The next announcement disturbed me very much, Government announced that boards are postponed further and will conduct boards with prior notice of only 15 days. Finally, I was relaxed when the Government cancelled the exams and will give a result based on Internal assessment. I was very happy that my Internal exams score was good enough to get a good percentage.

I was very excited to answer the SSC board exams. And I was fully prepared. I know due to pandemic government has to take this decision. But the decision to cancel this exam is not right as we had put in a lot of hard work and prepared for the examination and were hoping to get good marks.

The academic year of 2020-21 has been nothing that anyone could have imagined. The students of class 10 have had it brutal this year due to the virus and the pandemic that followed. There is a wrong presumption that the students are moving on without having any proper system or means of grading them and their calibre.

Students are being graded on the marks they have secured in the internal exams held earlier during that year and other means of assessment.  This can be a boon and a bane to some. It is like a double-edged sword. Those who could secure good marks for their exams will be promoted with much ease. But how students who couldn’t do well during the year but were awaiting the board exams to shine. This would be a great setback for them. The students who wanted to take science or diploma will be answering MCQ based question paper. This will allow those who wanted to prove themselves to get a chance to go forth. But what about the other?? If we go ahead at this rate... what kind of professional workers are we expecting shortly in the future??
